The Barrenjoey High School mates have taken out this year’s comp with their undeniable upload, ‘Night Light’. Hailing from the Northern Beaches in Sydney, The Rions (comprised of Noah, Harley, Asher and Tom) have been named this year’s Unearthed High champs!
What is Triple J Unearthed High competition?
Unearthed High is back for it’s 14th year! If you’re outta the loop, it’s triple j Unearthed’s annual search for the country’s best high school talent. Past winners include George Alice, Kian, Japanese Wallpaper, Gretta Ray, Arno Faraji and more, with Adelaide punk duo Teenage Joans taking out last year’s comp.
How can the public discover music on unearthed?
All you have to do is sign up as an artist, upload your music to the site and voila! You’ll get your very own artist page where people can find out about you, listen to your music and tell you what they think.
Who can put their music on Triple J Unearthed and how?
The Unearthed Team and triple j presenters are always keeping an ear out for good stuff to play on the radio and you can also work your way up the Unearthed charts by ratings and reviews from Unearthed members. You must be an Australian citizen or resident to upload your tracks to triple j Unearthed.
How does unearthed high work?
We’ll fly you out to Sydney to help you record, mix or master your next big hit at the triple j studio. You’ll also receive professional industry advice from a senior music manager and we’ll hook you up for a little mentoring sesh with one of your favourite artists. Who knows, we might even rock up at your school!
How do I add a review on triple j Unearthed?
To write a triple j Unearthed review, log in to the triple j Unearthed site. Then click play on the track you wish to review – this will launch a little jukebox. – a speech bubble icon. Click that one!
When should I upload to Triple J Unearthed?
Once you’ve created your artist profile, you can upload up to three tracks, which will then be moderated by our Music Team. Processing usually takes three or four working days but in some cases can take up to a week or so.
How do you get noticed on triple j Unearthed?
The true beauty of Unearthed is that it is entirely democratic, because we listen to every song, and every song has a chance to get played based on its individual merit. You can hit up @triplejunearthed on twitter and ask nicely for some feedback too. Often you’ll get it from someone in our team!
