Is steinlager a good beer?
The flavor backs that up: Like Steinlager, this is an extremely light-bodied beer, an easy-drinking thirst-quencher with a very mild body, a light to moderate sweetness on the mid-palate, and a clean and crisp finish. Served very cold, it is refreshing and delicious.

As a drinking experience Steinlager Pure is fresher and, as one of the lads says, “more real” tasting than the classic version “but a little boring and inoffensive”. Another says it has a generic beer taste and at least with the old “chemically enhanced” Steinie you knew what you were drinking.

Steinlager Classic was born from a challenge. In 1958, the infamous Black Budget cut beer imports and the challenge was put out to New Zealand brewers to produce a lager of international quality.

Taste is much the same with sweet grain and grassy flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an average beer that is easy to drink but nothing all that special.
