Where can I get energy data?
The International Energy Portal contains EIA’s country-level energy data. Users can view and download datasets for consumption, production, trade, reserves, and carbon dioxide emissions for different fuels and energy sources.
What is energy database?
Energy Industry data provides information about energy generation, distribution and consumption. Energy data can encompass various sources of energy, including electrical, gas, oil, renewable and nuclear.
What percentage of energy consumption is electricity?
This energy consists of fuel (78%) and electricity (22%)….Final consumption.

How much energy is produced every year?
In 2020, about 4,009 billion kilowatthours (kWh) (or about 4.01 trillion kWh) of electricity were generated at utility-scale electricity generation facilities in the United States. About 60% of this electricity generation was from fossil fuels—coal, natural gas, petroleum, and other gases.
Why are fossil fuels bad?
When fossil fuels are burned, they release large amounts of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, into the air. Greenhouse gases trap heat in our atmosphere, causing global warming. Already the average global temperature has increased by 1C.
Why is mtoe used?
Millions of tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe) is a unit of energy used to describe the energy content of all fuels, typically on a very large scale. The Mtoe is much smaller than the quad, but can be multiplied by 1000 in order to compare to it (1000 Mtoe = 1 Gtoe = 39.68 quad).
Where does EIA get their information?
All of EIA’s products can be accessed through its website, www.eia.gov, which averages approximately 2 million visits per month. EIA also distributes information and data on specific topics through 41 email subscription lists, 11 RSS feeds, and through more than 1 million data series in our API.
What is EIA API?
Currently, EIA’s API contains the following main data sets: Hourly electricity operating data, including actual and forecast demand, net generation, and the power flowing between electric systems. 408,000 electricity series organized into 29,000 categories.
What uses most energy in the world?
China is the largest consumer of primary energy in the world, using some 145.46 exajoules in 2020. This is far more than was consumed by the United States, which ranks second. The majority of primary energy fuels is still derived from fossil fuels such as oil and coal.
Which country produces most electricity?
Top five electricity-generating countries in 2019

- US – 4,401 TWh.
- India – 1,559 TWh.
- Russia – 1,118 TWh.
