What time of year is Anime Expo?
Anime Expo Lite is the digital version of Anime Expo (AX), the largest celebration of Japanese pop culture in North America! Held annually since 1991, AX now takes place every July 4th weekend and has been in Los Angeles since 2008. Anime Expo Lite’s virtual event dates will be July 3-4, 2021.
Can you bring food Anime Expo?
Attendees are permitted to bring in food and beverage for personal consumption only. This means only food and drink that you would be able to consume individually. Food and drink brought in bulk will not be permitted into the convention center.

After canceling their 2020 convention and going virtual in 2021, Anime Expo will return to Los Angeles as a live event in 2022. Following two years of setbacks due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, Anime Expo has announced that the convention will return as a live, in-person event in 2022.

Anime Expo is regularly hosted at the Los Angeles Convention Center but has also been held in other cities such as Anaheim, San Jose, New York, and Tokyo. Anime Expo is currently the largest North American anime convention as of 2017.

In early 2012, Anime News Network reported that Anime Expo suffered a $1.2 million loss in 2010. The 2011 convention saw a $100,000 profit and reduced the outstanding debt to $700,000.
How many people went to Anime Expo Tokyo?
Of Anime Expo Tokyo’s 4,249 attendees, approximately 300 of that number were estimated to have traveled from abroad. In addition to the attendance numbers were 240 members of the press, 40 of which were from overseas.
