What is a Talos system?
Talos is a modern OS designed to be secure, immutable, and minimal. Its purpose is to host Kubernetes clusters, so it is tightly integrated with Kubernetes. Talos is based on the Linux kernel, and supports most cloud platforms, bare metal, and most virtualization platforms.
Can Kubernetes run on any OS?
Despite what you may have heard, Kubernetes is not an operating system, but still depends on Linux (or Windows) to be installed on the nodes. (Some, like AWS EKS, remove the need to manage the control plane nodes, but still require you to set up Linux servers for worker nodes.)
