Where do I start with Math-U-See?
If you have a kindergartner, simply start with the Primer level. But if you are moving an older child to Math-U-See, sit down with your child and have him or her take the computer-based Placement Test.
What is the Math before Algebra?
Preparation for Pre-Algebra includes a review of basic arithmetic skills, including operations, number theory, decimals, percents, integers, variables, the Cartesian plane, and basic geometry. Emphasis is given to mastering fractions.

What age is Math U See Primer for?
Now they are both in the early chapters of Alpha at ages 6.5 and 5.5 and we’re enjoying it. Primer could be skipped if you wish, but then Alpha will take longer as Primer lays a nice foundation with using the blocks, counting, etc. I would start a child in Alpha at 6 if they didn’t do Primer.
