Is triple channel better than dual?

There is no real world performance difference between a triple channel memory configuration and a dual channel setup. Except of course that one can install a higher memory count at once (12GB on TC and 8GB on DC being the norm).

Is DDR3 triple channel?

DDR3 triple-channel architecture is used in the Intel Core i7-900 series (the Intel Core i7-800 series only support up to dual-channel). The architecture can only be used when all three, or a multiple of three, memory modules are identical in capacity and speed, and are placed in three-channel slots.

Can you run triple channel?

You will not run triple channel. Those parts only support dualchannel=motherboard/cpu. When just adding one stick wil it run single channel next to the dualchannel you already have.

Can you triple channel with 4 slots?

Quad-channel mode This mode is enabled when four (or a multiple of four) DIMMs are identical in capacity and speed, and are put in quad-channel slots. When two memory modules are installed, the system operates in dual-channel mode. When three memory modules are installed, the system operates in triple-channel mode.

Can you triple channel with four slots?

Most motherboards that have six slots support triple channel, with up to two memory sticks on each channel. Triple channel mode will typically only work if each channel has the same amount of memory on it. If a board has four slots, it is most likely dual-channel.

Is it OK to put 3 RAM sticks?

To answer your question yes you can use three sticks of ram, however you will not get the maximum performance from it like you will from matched pairs in dual channel.

Does DDR4 support triple channel?

Triple Channel is not supported much and I’m sure you would know if your MoBo supported it already. Quad channel (4 sticks) is supported by Servers (Dual CPU) and new CPUs that support DDR4 so…

Can I use 2gb RAM along with 4gb RAM in the other slot?

Yes you can but the 2gb overage from the 4gb stick will only run in single channel mode.

Is it better to have 2 8gb sticks or 4 4GB?

2 sticks is slightly more easy on the memory controller, but most times larger sticks do not have as tight of timings as the smaller ones. All things being equal, you will not feel the difference, but 2 sticks is more easy on the system and can sometimes give a better chance of using a command rate of 1.
