Arts Ed. Arts Ed is clear that it is not a stage school, however casting directors do regularly come-a-calling when seeking new talent. Every year there are around 250 applications for 75 places. Gaining entry is all about potential and passion – academically, it is non-selective.
How long does it take to hear back from Arts Ed?
The ArtsEd and Mountview auditions were all in one day. After that day you don’t audition again and you hear within two weeks whether you’re in or not.

Auditions and interviews are open to students who will be 18 or over (Foundation and Undergraduate courses) or 21 and over (Postgraduate courses) at the time of course entry.

How to apply for BA musical theatre auditions?
The ongoing and ever changing restrictions due to Covid-19 mean that we have established a new audition process for all BA Musical Theatre applicants. All 1 st and 2nd round auditions will be virtual. You will need to film your audition pieces and submit them as one video for assessment by our audition panel.
How long is the audition process for ArtsEd?
At the end of your recording please tell us a little about why you chose the pieces that you did, and about your reasons for wanting to study MA Acting at ArtsEd. The audition panel will review your video and we aim to get back to you with their decision within four weeks of the deadline.

What kind of songs do you need for a musical theatre audition?
You will need to perform and film two musical theatre songs. One should be a ‘legit’ ballad written no later than 1965 (e.g. ‘If I Loved You’ from Carousel), and the other should provide a contrast and be something you enjoy singing.
