How often should you overhaul a regulator?

How do you clean a regulator?
- Rinsing your regulator with fresh (warm) water.
- Rinse it within a few hours after the dive.
- Dry the dust cap before putting it on the first stage.
- Do NOT soak the first stage.
- Soak some regulator parts for a while.
- Wiggle the second stages underwater.
- Do NOT press the purge button.
- Clean the mouthpieces properly.
