How much does a sheet of UHMW cost?
UHMW-PE is defined as polyethylene whose molecular weight is 3.1 million or higher….0.250″ X 24″ X 96″ Natural UHMW Sheet.
1 – 2 | $197.18 |
---|---|
10 – 24 | $166.91 |

How do you recycle UHMW plastic?
UHMW/PE is one plastic that can be recycled. Here at Spiratex we collect unused and trimmed scrap for recycling into mechanical grade UHMW/PE. FDA requirements do not allow for certification of reprocessed UHMW/PE, but this mechanical grade is perfectly effective for non-food applications like chain guides or bumpers.
What is reprocessed UHMW?
Reprocessed UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) is a machinable thermoplastic that serves as an economical and environmentally friendly option for non-food applications. Reprocessed UHMW is made with a blend of virgin and recycled UHMW.
Is UHMW the same as polyethylene?
HDPE (high density polyethylene) is a durable, versatile, low-cost, abrasion- and chemical-resistant plastic material. UHMW (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) is an extremely tough, abrasion-resistant, low-cost plastic, used for a wide range of wear applications.
What is black UHMW?
UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) is a common machinable plastic known for durability, versatility and cost-effectiveness as well as abrasion, impact and chemical resistances. The standard color of reprocessed UHMW is black, but also comes in green.
What is UHMW plastic sheet?
UHMW or UHMW-PE (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) is an extremely tough plastic with high abrasion and wear resistance. The versatility of polyethylene has made it a popular plastic for countless industrial applications that require durability, low friction, and chemical resistance.
What is HDPE board?
HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) is a material commonly used in cutting boards and other food services applications. Its excellent durability and low moisture absorption make it a logical choice for these applications.
Is Delrin the same as UHMW?
UHMW has surface and chemical properties that are rare to find in high-performance polymers. It is very resistant to most chemicals, UV radiation, and micro-organisms, but doesn’t have the same creep resistance as Delrin.
What is PE sheet?
Polyethylene sheeting is a plastic film made from petroleum. It is used in construction as vapor retarders, window films, flooring and counter top protection, and even in roofing. Polyethylene sheet can be used to seal off rooms, cover building materials, and be used in lead abatement projects.
Is Dyneema toxic?
Polyethylene is regarded as biologically inert. Dyneema® fibers are IARC classified 3 (not classifiable carcinogenic to human) based upon its length-weighted geometric mean diameter in the range 17.93–18.32 μm.
Is Dyneema the same as UHMWPE?
Dyneema is a brand name for a chemical fiber. Chemical names for the same thing are UHMWPE, HMPE, UHMW. They are both the same chemically HMPE or UHMWPE. Same strength characteristics.
Is Black UHMW FDA approved?
Known for an extremely high molecular weight, UHMW features an unsurpassed combination of slickness, toughness and chemical resistance. Virgin black UHMW sheet is NOT FDA compliant and should not be used for food processing applications.
What can you use reprocessed UHMW for?
Reprocessed UHMW features the same low coefficient of friction as standard UHMW while also offering a slightly better wear resistance. Reprocessed UHMW is used extensively for chain guides, wear rails, chute liners, truck liners, hopper liners and many other applications where excellent wear properties are required.
How big is a mole of UHMW plastic?
UHMW plastic features a molecular weight that ranges from 3.1 million to 100 million grams per mole, with an abrasion resistance that continues to improve as molecular weight increases. Reprocessed UHMW is an eco-friendly and economical alternative to standard virgin UHMW that uses a blended version of virgin and recycled UHMW.
What’s the difference between Virgin and reprocessed UHMW?
Reprocessed UHMW is an eco-friendly and economical alternative to standard virgin UHMW that uses a blended version of virgin and recycled UHMW. Reprocessed UHMW is excellent for non-food applications and offers all the benefits of standard UHMW at a much more cost effective price.
What can UHMW be used for in packaging?
Reprocessed UHMW is used extensively in conveying, material handling, and packaging applications where durability and wear resistance is necessary. Piedmont Plastics works with many suppliers to offer a wide range of plastic materials that will meet any need.
