How can you tell the size of blinds?
Measure the height of your window opening in three places: left, center, and right. Use the smallest measurement if you’re measuring for sheer shades, vertical blinds, solar shades, or roller shades. For all other blinds and shades, use the longest measurement. Order at the exact opening size with no deductions.
How do you measure for ready made blinds?
Use a metal tape measure for accuracy. Measure across the window width, adding an extra 10cm (4″) to the total width to allow a 5cm (2″) overlap either side of the window to block out light effectively. For roller blinds add a further 5cm (2″) to the width to allow room for the operating mechanism.
What does exact mean when measuring blinds?

What does 1 inch blinds mean?
1 inch Blind: If you are looking for small window coverings, this is a good choice. Picking this size means you will have more slats per blind. When you have the slats open, your view to the outside won’t be as open, yet you can simply raise the blinds when you need to. They are perfect for windows with narrow frames.
What is the standard blind size?
If you’ve ever wondered what the standard size of window blinds is, the standard window length ranges from 36 to 72 inches, and the standard width ranges from 24 to 60 inches.
Are blinds measured width by height?
One of the most important steps is to measure both the height and width in 3 places – top, middle, and bottom. For Roller Shades, Solar Shades, Sheer Shades, or Vertical Blinds use the measurement from the top of the window. For all other styles, use the narrowest width measurement of the top, middle and bottom.
