Are Hctra tolls still waived?

HCTRA continues hands-free tolling; cash customers asked to drive through and pay tolls online (with no penalty). Cash will not be accepted at booths, but drivers should drive through and pay online for the tolls only, with no additional service or violation fees.

What is an EZ plate Hctra?

EZ Plate allows EZ TAG account holders to temporarily add a vehicle to their account, for a limited period of time. EZ Plate vehicles will be charged a higher, non-tag toll rate.

What is the difference between TxTag and Hctra?

The state’s TxTag requires you to pre-pay $20 worth of tolls. Harris County’s EZ TAG requires $40 down plus a $15 activation fee. The state doesn’t require you to keep a minimum balance, but if your account is negative when you go through a toll, you will receive a violation.

Can I transfer my EZ TAG to another car?

No. The chip located inside the sticker-type EZ TAG becomes damaged when the tag is removed from the windshield. HCTRA does not advise attempting to transfer tags; we recommend the purchase of a new EZ TAG when replacing your windshield or purchasing a new vehicle to ensure your toll road access.

Tollways included are Hardy Toll Road, Westpark Tollway, and Beltway 8. This does not include Grand Parkway, Highway 99, or Metro HOV/HOT lanes.
