wild camping is allowed all along the sides of the loch, there is a gravel parking area at the castle that is level. There is a a cafe (the roundhouse) near the dam that is open most days.

Do you need a permit for Loch Doon?
No permit is required for the Loch, which has a large head of wild Brown trout averaging about 8oz, though 12oz-16oz fish are not uncommon, and some that are much larger ! Perch are also to be found, and though regarded as a nuisance by many Trout anglers, they can provide some sport on a slow day !
