Can I use my own sensors with SimpliSafe?
If you’re not certain which system you have, you can tell the difference here. New sensors can be added to our latest SimpliSafe system in one of two ways. If you are adding a single sensor, open the Menu on your keypad (using your Master PIN) and select “Devices”, then “Add device” and follow the instructions.

SimpliSafe Original can have up to 39 sensors. (41 if you include the Keypad and Master Keychain Remote) There are a couple of methods that can be used to add sensors to your system.
How many sensors can SimpliSafe have?
All components are equipped with adhesive strips for installation, as well as screws in case you want them to be more secure. You can have up to 41 sensors synchronized to your Original SimpliSafe system, and in ideal conditions they can send signals up to 400 feet away from the Base Station.
Does SimpliSafe work if WiFi goes out?
In the event of a power outage your SimpliSafe Base Station is equipped with a backup rechargeable battery supply that will keep your Base Station powered for up to 24 hrs. SimpliSafe does not rely on WiFi, and will continue to function over cellular networks.
Will dog set off SimpliSafe motion sensor?
Pets under 30 pounds generally don’t trigger Motion Sensors, but if they get close enough to the sensor, smaller dogs or cats may still be able to trigger it.
Does SimpliSafe tell you when a door opens?
“Your SimpliSafe will warn you that a window or door is open when you turn the alarm on. Open doors or windows will not be protected until they are closed. Once they are closed, the base station will start monitoring them.”
Does SimpliSafe have glass break sensors?
Inside SimpliSafe’s Glass Break Sensor is a small microphone that is calibrated to react to the sound of the glass being struck and then breaking. Pane glass has a certain sound frequency when smashed, which the sensor hears and then trips the alarm.
