Are plate chillers good?
Plate chillers have an amazing ability to draw the heat out of your wort. Here’s how they work: cold water runs through plates in one direction and the hot brew interfaces with that cold water by running through the other side in the opposite direction.
How is a plate chiller made?
Inside the plate chiller are multiple stainless steel plates that are welded together. The plates are sandwiched together and hot wort moves in one direction along the sandwiched plates (and cold water in the other direction) while exuding cooler wort (and warm water) in the other direction.

How many times have I brewed with a recirculating wort chiller?
I have now brewed 3 times using 3 variations method: Method #1 I recirculated for 100% of the time and just added ice as the water in the bucket warmed up. This worked a little better than the traditional wort chiller method. I had to buy a lot of ice to keep up.
Can a wort chiller be put in an ice bucket?

Can you use a plate chiller without pumps?
Without the aid of pumps, I don’t really think a plate chiller is the way to go. Although gravity might work fine for chiller, cleaning and sanitizing the plate chiller with just gravity might be very difficult and time consuming.
