What mesh do you use with RedGard?

Will RedGard stick to fiberglass?
RedGard® as General Waterproof Membrane (ANSI 118.10) For extra protection, embed a 6″ (15 cm) wide fiberglass mesh into the membrane for changes of plane and for gaps 1/8″ (3 mm) or greater. Apply RedGard at a rate or 110 sq ft per gallon each coat.
Does Thinset stick to RedGard?
Premixed thinset mortar does not adhere well to RedGard waterproofing membrane. In order to make sure your tile bonds well to a surface that has been waterproofed with RedGard, use a powdered mortar. You will need to mix this mortar with water yourself, but it will ensure a strong bond between the tile and the wall.

Can I put RedGard on cement board?
As long as it’s Cement Board & not some crappy “almost” cement board stuff. You really don’t need the RedGard, but the more protection the better…so go for it. And yes, you can do the boards beforehand. But, hit the filled seams & screws (your weak points) as soon as a panel is ready to give it some time to setup.
Does 100 silicone stick to Redgard?
Caulk that gap with siliconized or latex caulk and then use Redgard over the caulk. Regard will not stick to 100% silicone caulk. You DO NOT want moisture collecting in that crevice and it can if you stuff it with thinset.
Can you tile directly over redguard?
You need a full coating for the product to be effective. When you are finished you should let the walls completely dry for a day before tiling. Your tile can then be installed directly onto your walls over the membrane with a proper thinset mortar.

Quickly apply enough RedGard for complete saturation of the first layer and wait till it completely drys and then apply additional layers as necessary. RedGard does dry fairly quick while applying, so thats something to look out for while using with the mesh tape.
What kind of tape to use on fiberglass mesh?
It was very easy to apply, the fiberglass mesh is porous enough that the applied RedGard on the mesh tape seeped through and was able to easily, saturate and completely bond with the Hardie Backer surface and this mesh tape. I applied the RedGard on top of the mesh tape with a brush.
What to use to install redgard on backerboard?
This may lead to mold.You must also tape the backerboard seams with fiberglass mesh drywall tape. The easiest way I have found to install Redgard is, after the walls are prepped properly, start with a paint brush and thoroughly coat all the corners and angles.
