One of the easiest ways to access the pools is via the Pipiwai Trail. This 1.8-mile route offers one of the best hikes in East Maui. Winding along a string of dramatic pools and waterfalls, you’ll encounter a giant Banyan tree, dense bamboo forests, and a grove of mountain apple trees.
Can you swim in the pools of OHEO Maui?

Why are the seven sacred pools in Kula closed?
A beautiful series of pools but closed to swimming. We’d hoped to be able to at least wade in the pools, but the trails down to the pools were closed. I asked a ranger about it, and the system that they used to detect potential flash floods had broken — over 18 months ago. I wish they’d get it fixed!
